Inscriptions have achieved their purpose..they made most things dirt cheap. There are of course some exceptions like the new "fade" weapon the Elemental sword. Overall this is good for the average Joe which this game is based around.
My opinon and yours don't really matter..inscriptions are here to stay like it or not.
Actually I'm from GWOnline and I'm a long time player since GW's release. I play far too much than I'd like to admit 1500+ hours. I also PVP though.
My opinion is that if you're all bored because you can't farm, then this really wasnt the game for you to begin with. I'm sure some of you will take offense to this, but I'm not trying to provoke anyone. It's just my observation.
I just think that the inscription system is beneficial for everyone. And it doesnt necessarily hinder any farming or gold making. You just have to find other ways of making money with the new system.
I don't know how you can say this isn't the game for us. It was for over a year until the AI was changed and inscriptions were added. One or the other I would have been ok with, but both of them combined was just too much. I farmed with guildies because it was fun. It gave us a no pressure thing to do so we could hang out and shoot the bull on vent, and on top of that we'd get a nice rare item every now and then. Now, farming is not only a pain in the ass, but there are no truly rare items because the base damage modifier can be changed. As I said, I'm not in it for the money. It used to be fun to find a 15^50 item, now it's not.

Well I dont see why it would be any different with or without inscriptions. I hadnt realized that the fun factor was dependant whether or not an item has an inscription. That just seems very strange to me.
I don't think inscriptions go far enough. The need for an inscription slot on a weapon makes it all rather pointless to me. If they could be applied to any weapon from any continent, then they'd have solved equipment problems. As it stands, you still need to be lucky to find a usable weapon that looks decent. Even if the odds aren't quite so stacked against you as they used to be. Unless you like a Prophecies or Factions only skin... then you're just as screwed as you always were.
As for how long I've been playing, not counting the beta weekends I've been playing since Prophecies early access. I've had plenty of money in my storage for a long time (and have made another 250-300k just playing Nightfall, no farming). I could have bought Superior Absorptions at 100k easily. I didn't bother because I farmed until I got one. I bought and half upgraded my own personal Guild Hall without breaking a sweat. I could probably buy just about anything right now, except maybe Fissure armor or a Crystalline Sword. However, all that money means nothing when I can't use it to assemble a weapon I want. It just keeps building up, unless I buy another 15k armor. Even then, I make back the money in a week or so.
So as a veteran player, the only thing I don't like about inscriptions is that they aren't useful enough. If they applied to any weapon, and there was a trader for them, then they'd be just fine.

As I stated, the fun came in finding a rare item that actually had a 15^50 modifier on it. Now any item can have that. There's no "treasure" anymore.

The fun was finding a 15^50 because they use to be rare now any item can be a 15^50 all you got to do is go to Kamadan and say WTB 15^50 and you will get 20PMs within seconds
edit: beaten to it lol

I like the inscription system. Its just that half the inscribable weapons have crappy reqs and I keep getting the same inscriptions. "Let The Memory Live Again" is the most common one I get. An inscribable scythe with decent reqs is hard to find. *lol*
I've been playing for 3 1/2 months. I haven't completed any of the games yet but that's because I have 4 characters and its hard to give each character the attention it deserves. Anyways I don't see how being new has any bearing on my ability to gauge if a weapon/item upgrade is good or not.
To tell the truth I am none too happy with the inscription system. Let me say this first on weapons it is fine but now everyone can have the same armor as everyone else due to it. I personaly like to have a choice in what my armor looks like, I don't like beign a clone of everyone else. They should have left the armor the way it was and not change it. As far as the weapons all should be able to be inscribed not just those from Elona.
I like inscriptions. I dislike buying/bartering for items considering I never really have much money. So being able to construct a 15^50 weapon with perfect stats makes me glad.
As somebody stated: then go and farm in Prophecies or Factions for the "oh so precious" and overrated crystalline swords or gothic equipment. If you want to look exclusive, go for rare skins. If there aren't enough rare skins, that's another issue. But basic equipment and mods should never be rare and overpriced at all.
I am playing since the betas, I posted in the "I'm bored thread" because I am bored
BUT
not because of the AI, not because of the inscriptions. Infact I love the inscriptionsystem! Also I think it's a pity, that it's restricted to nightfall only. It's the only way to get usable eqipment for your PVE-characters to use in PvP that makes them at least close to as powerful as the now totally overpowered pvpchars.
Thanks to the inscription system you're not forced to farm as long anymore to get the needed eqipment, you're not forced to waste vaste amounts of playtime with tedious and boring farming activities. In my opinion the inscriptionsystem is one of the few things that were really cool about nightfall.
Trust me dude pudin would farm you into the ground.. its just that farming is now boring and pointless due to the utter crap ai and the worthlessness of items.. Had the ai not been crap we could deal.. but seeings how both are happening.. then its just to much and the game has become boring.
When did this become a competition? Who cares who can farm who "into the ground?" You missed my point entirely dude.
And why are you spamming threads with such huge pictures? What is the point of showing off your items in here?
When did this game become a competition? Wtf does that mean lol.
What's up with you people? Getting so hot under the collar for no reason? The Naratu guy said that some guy could farm me into the ground. So I asked why he's turning this into a competition? As in the debate. Not the game. What's your problem?
You should use 16 in Scythe so req shouldn't be an issue..if you use less then 16 you are a less then effective Dervish.
Well I just got Nightfall last week and I'm still on n00b island. I have the pre-release scythe and regularly do 80-100 dmg(my mastery is 12 and I am saving up for sup rune) with it but it would be nice to have something I can customize. *lol* Every time I get a Gold or Purple its an axe or hammer!! Well...I did get 2 gold monk staffs recently and gave them to Dunkuro.
If a million people didn’t buy from you before what would make you think they would buy from you ever...
The nice thing about inscriptions is that if you already have the item and it has a junk inscription you can now make it how you want it. Other wise people would still play with it for that “cool look” factor or junk it. And then that is still a gamble because not all items can have an inscription added to them I have ran across the same type’s of weapons with and with out inscription slots.

I have had no trouble with farming at all even after the update.
There’s cool little free download that windows has where you can resize picture so you don’t blow out the border. You might want to look into it.
dont like them, just another way to waste money, didnt see the need....and no, I dont farm, I am not wealthy (no fow armor---its all butt ugly, and I have no ecto).
I would much prefer plain old decent weapons, eg max damage--dont really care about the req......have YET to find a max weapon in nightfall (inscibable or otherwise)......just no use for this extra junk.
dont like the insignias on the armor either----dont see the point when you could have gotten most of them with any skin in cantha.......just another money sink.
(ok, yes I am poor)
Sadly, it seems most of the people who didn't like the changes made have already quit the game. I am now done as well. I'm going to keep my characters for a couple of weeks to see if any changes are made and if not, adios GW.
I don't like inscriptions at all. I wouldn't mind if they were only for crafter/collector items, but it makes rare items pointless. For a lot people I play with, after beating the game one of the reasons to keep playing is to get nice rare items to show off. Inscriptions make it way too easy to make your own perfect "rare" item...all you need is a weapon with a decent req. I thought the point of collecters/crafters was for newer players to get perfect stat weapons, and that rare skinned golds were for the more dedicated players that were willing to take the time to get them (going into FoW/UW/etc).
To me it seems that Anet is trying to end farming/chest running/ebay gold, no matter what they have to change. Maybe they are just trying too hard to be innovative and different from other RPGs (making GW the anti-WoW?) With perfect rare skin items being easier to get, I'm sure there will be less people farming just to sell because they are no longer rare and worth anything. What they aren't considering is players like myself and my guildies that farm mainly for items for ourselves are less inclined to do so because the stuff just isn't as "special" any more. Taking that away gives us less reason to keep playing after getting our characters through a campaign.
